This is an epochal system that thoroughly analyzes the actual conditions
of inundation, making full use of computer simulation techniques, and
develops an optimum inundation disaster prevention plan. Analysis of inundation
mechanisms is not simple as it sounds. It involves an immense volume of
complex data that defies manual calculation, including topographical data
such as topography, surface inclination and rain water flow direction,
precipitation data such as precipitation distribution and ground absorption
rate, river data such as basin characteristics, natural discharge, forced
drainage, river flow profile and water level, as well as data on damage
in the past. This Rain Water Runoff Analysis
System automatically processes a series of operations from all
such analytical work through to the production of technical documents.
The System predicts future inundation situations with a high degree of
accuracy and provides plans tailored to the administration's objectives
in the shortest possi-ble time. Increasing urbanization and reduction
of wooded areas and farmland are depriving the land of retarding functions
and threatening the safety of communities. It is hoped that this System
will be used to provide amenities free from inundation. |
